The (fictional) village of Lower Hembrow lies beneath Ham Hill in Somerset.
There’s The Plough, below Ham Hill, owned by our sleuthing hero Adam, where Harley the stray dog arrives in search of a home.
Imogen’s Streamside Hotel is just across the road, with a row of Hawthorn trees running alongside the river, tended by the faithful Oswald.
Then, there’s Edwina Topsham’s Village Shop, one of Harley’s favourite walking destinations, St Michael’s Church where Helen Pickles is vicar, and the Village Hall – which needs a new roof.
Lower Hembrow itself is fictional, but there are plenty of real, wonderful spots to visit in Somerset, from the famous Low Lighthouse, through Wells Cathedral, to Wincanton Racecourse. Many of them are hugely important to my stories.
